-Garnet Peak-
HPS: #5
SDC: #4Elevation: 5,900 ft.
Date Hiked: 12/6/2008
Trip Report:
This hike was part two of the day, the first being Wooded Hill. Many people say the view from the top of Garnet Peak is the best in the county. The vertical relief from the summit to the desert below is some of the greatest in San Diego County. -

-Wooded Hill-
SDC: #3
Elevation: 6,223 ft.
Date Hiked: 12/6/2008
Trip Report:
This peak (if you can call it that) is located around 10 miles north of I-8 on Sunrise Highway. I wanted to do this short hike last week but when I arrived at the trailhead a local hunter told me he had been tracking a mountain lion on this same trail and that I should not hike by myself. I decided I would come back another day. -

-Monument Peak-
HPS: #4
SDC: #2Elevation: 6,271 ft.
Date Hiked: 11/28/2008.
Trip Report:
I had never hiked this peak before this trip. I had read a few trip reports and it sounded like a fun hike. I left San Diego around 8:30 AM and arrived at the trail head around 9:45 AM. I was planning on hiking Wooded Hill via the Wooded Hill Nature Trail but when I arrived a hunter told me he had been tracking a mountain lion along the trail. I decided this hike should be done another time. One of the Summit Towers and the Anza Borrego Desert with the Salton Sea in the Background

-Black Mountain-
SDC: #1
Elevation: 1,544 ft.
Date Hiked: 11/22/08.
Trip Report:
I have hiked Black Mountain many times before so I knew what to expect. It also happens to be very close to where I live. I started around 10 AM and reached the top a half hour later. The views from the top were not too bad.
