    Elevation: 10,834 ft.

    Date Hiked: 12-31-2010

    Trip Report:
The final day of 2010 was a good one. It does not get much better than a trip up San Jacinto in the snow. I had wanted to take the tram and hike the peak in winter for a long time and it finally worked out. Eric, who I hiked El Cajon Mountain with decided to come along as well.

    SDC: #14 & 15

    Elevation: 5,326 ft. & 4,574 ft.

    Date Hiked: 1-23-10

    Trip Report:

I had been looking to go for a hike for the past few weeks. This past week southern California had an epic series of storms which left snow above 4,000 ft in San Diego. Although there was up to two feet of snow I was still going to try and bag an HPS and a few SDC peaks. I choose to hike San Ysidro mountain becasue you can also bag 3 SDC peaks (The Thimble, White BM and Bonny BM). These peaks aree located west of Borrego Springs along State Route 22. The directions from the HPS site were dead on.

    Elevation: 14,265 ft.

    Date Hiked: 2-25-2007

    Trip Report:
This was my second time hiking Quandary peak but the first time during the winter. This peak is the most popular 14er to hike in the winter. It is easily accessed and a short hike. Today was no exception. Even though the weather was abysmal there were still plenty of people out today.

    -Mt. Bierstadt Winter Attempt-

    12.02.05 | Permalink | Comment?

    Elevation: 14,060 ft.

    Date Hiked: 12-2-2005

    Trip Report:
This was my first attempt on Mt. Bierstadt and it happened to be in the middle of a strong winter storm. As soon as we got to the trailhead I knew our chances of summiting were slim. The winds were strong and it was overcast most of the trip.
